Masterclass with Masayuki Fujikawa: Bonsai Techniques and Artistry
We are excited to offer an exclusive opportunity to learn from one of the most respected names in bonsai artistry—Masayuki Fujikawa. This masterclass is part of our Open House program, where you’ll experience hands-on training and expert guidance from Mr. Fujikawa himself.
Masterclass Dates & Times:
- Saturday, March 14: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM or
- Sunday, March 15: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
- Please note: You can sign up for one session (either Saturday or Sunday) or choose to sign up for both sessions if you have a tree that requires more extensive work.
Important Information:
- Translation will be provided between Japanese and Dutch. Individual advice can be given in English, however, general discussions to the group will be in Dutch.
- Bring your own bonsai: Each participant should bring their own bonsai tree to work on during the class. The focus will be on outdoor bonsai techniques.
- Bring your own materials: Please bring all the necessary tools and materials you need for the class.
- Prerequisite Skills: These classes are designed for participants who already have basic bonsai skills and wish to deepen their knowledge and technique.
- Punctuality: Classes will start promptly, so please arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time to ensure you are ready.
Pricing & Registration:
- Early bird registration: €80 per session if you register by February 1. After this date, the price will increase to €90 per session.
- Cancellation policy: Cancellations can be made up to February 16 for a full refund.
- Limited spots available: Spots are limited, and the class will go ahead if a minimum number of participants is met.

About Masayuki Fujikawa:
Masayuki Fujikawa is a renowned bonsai master, known for his deep expertise and commitment to the art. After ten years of training with the legendary Masahiko Kimura, he took over the management of Hosei-en Bonsai Garden, which he now runs alongside his wife, Takako.
Mr. Fujikawa has earned numerous prestigious awards, including the Japanese Prime Minister’s Award, the Environment Minister’s Award, and the Education Minister’s Award. He was also selected as a key demonstrator at the 8th World Bonsai Convention alongside other bonsai greats.
As a director of the Nippon Bonsai Association and an international consultant for the World Bonsai Friendship Federation, Fujikawa is regarded as one of the most influential bonsai masters of his generation, with a significant global reputation.
